The trailer for Thor, previewed at Comic-Con 2010 last Saturday (July 24) hit the Web for swhile until it was pulled by Marvel and Paramount. But darn if it doesn't look tremendous. The film directed by Kenneth Branagh appears to be both epic and intimate in spots. From S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg from Iron Man films) interrogating Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to a regal Odin (Anthony Hopkins), trickster Norse god Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and also right out of Thor comics over the years, The Destroyer ("unregistered technology," Coulson says. Yeah, right), so fanboys and fangirls can start to go giddy. The clip indicates the death of Odin, though I think it''ll turn out to be "Odinsleep." But any trailer that makes you want to watch it again and again means this could be a great movie adaptation of Marvel's most Shakespeare-like series and it's hard to imagine anyone but Branagh (okay, maybe Peter Jackson) getting it right. And it looks like he has. For the best Thor material, start with the Stan Lee-Jack Kirby 1960s Marvel Masterworks collections and also the 1980s run by Walt Simonson collected in the Marvel Visonaries. Thor's majestic hammer Mjolnir was seen in the post-credits tag ending of Iron Man 2 and the God of Thunder will appear in The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon. Thor is set for release May 2011. The five-minute trailer was up at various times on different sites Thursday and embedded by others, including here, until finally yanked by the studios. But considering the massive positive reaction all around, it wouldn't be surprising to see the official trailer up and going around very soon.
Crops were not the only thing cultivated in the small farming community of Brawley, California. The sheer boredom gave way to Barbara Morden's fertile imagination and insatiable wanderlust. Barbara started to use writing as an exercise in creative expression during her time at Cal-Poly Pomona. She has turned that passion into a full time job as the marketing & advertising coordinator for one of the Southland's biggest and busiest Real Estate Agents. Under the tutelage of Darryl Morden, her best friend, biggest cheerleader & late husband, Barbara's writing blossomed into its current evocative style. When Barbara is not trying to make an ugly house sound pretty, she can be found over compensating for being a working mother, haunting local music venues, reading science fiction & comic books, or taking a well-deserved nap.
